U2

U2_4分词条

In paragraph nine, the author raises a new type of person. They are competitive showoffs.

This kind of person has an obvious characteristic. That is they want to be the best (one)of every bunch. In order to emphasize this unique personality, the author uses the word “outshine”. I am not familiar with this word. So I look it up in the dictionary. It means to be much more skillful and successful than someone. Then, in the following sentence, the author uses three extent adverbs “more”, “better”, and “deeper” to make the readers more clear about this kind of showoffs. In any situations, the competitive showoffs want to compare with others. What is more, I think, “Competitive showoffs are people who reside in a permanent state of rivalry” is a good sentence, which can express their characteristic well. Here, the word ‘permanent’ means something happens all the time, while the word ‘rivalry’ means competition. We can see from the sentence that the competitive showoffs never stop to rival. Afterwards, the author takes an example to go step further to make the readers understand these of competitive showoffs.

In my view, this kind of showoffs can be forgivable, and maybe even acceptable. Because I think not all the person can show him or her to others well. Only these full of passion and optimistic person can do this well. Usually, they are more successful than other people are. Therefore, I think what they are doing is just talk things out. It is a nature behavior.

well done!
