扫罗王△登基年四十岁，作王四十年（撒上十三1；徒十三21）。
一、优点
富有孝心──怕父亲为自己担忧（撒上九5）。
晓得礼貌──不敢白白麻烦人（九7～10）。
为人谦卑──受命为王，自认不配（九20～21，十16、21～24）。
善取人才──招集能者和勇士跟从他（十四52）。
不忘人恩──记念基尼人善待祖先之恩（十五6）。
二、行迹
救基列雅比人脱离亚扪王的残害（撒上十一1～11）。
为国奋勇，常与列国争战，拯救百姓脱离抢掠，安定民生（撒上十四47～48）。
三、缺点
不知靠神──遇到困难不晓得寻求神（撒上九6）。
不守本位──越权献祭，种下王位被废的主因（十三8～14）。
有错不改──不遵神命，被责之时推罪于民（十五12～15），又要先知在众人之前抬举他（十五24～30）。
妒贤忌能──不赏功臣大卫，反嫉视他，设计谋害他（十七31～58，十八6～9、17～30）。
反复无常──在隐基底向大卫痛悔前非（廿四1～22），不久杀意复发又索大卫于西弗旷野（廿六1～25）。
四、结果
被魔鬼侵扰──违命后常受魔鬼扰乱，心无安宁，胡言乱为（撒上十六14～15，十八10）。
得不到神助──两次与敌作战，均得不到神的同在，大起惊惶（十七10～11，廿八5）。
父子均阵亡──父子四人败在非利士人之前，同日阵亡（卅一1～10）。
五、感想
优点要坚守到底（帖前五21～22；来三14；启二4～5）。
有过须虚心痛悔（箴廿八13；诗五十一17；赛六十六2）。
切不可妒贤忌能（林前十三4；箴廿七4；加五26）

Saul: My father's donkeys had wandered away. I went to look for them.
Samuel: I told Saul that the dankeys had been found, and I told him that God had chosen him to be the king of Israel.
Saul: When I got home I told my family that the donkeys were safe, but I did not tell them I was going to be the king.
Samul: I called all the people together so that I could tell them that Saul lwould be their new king.
Saul: I hid bihind the supplies.
Samuel:I had the people bring Saul to me, and I told everyone that he would be the king.
Saul: One time I had my army ready to go to battle. Samuel had told me not to go until after he had given an offering to the Lord. I got tired of waiting for him, so I gave the fering myself.
Samuel: I had told him to wait. By giving the offering to God himself, King Saul had disobeyed God. I told him that his time as king would come to an end and the Lord would bring up someone else to be the king of Israel.
Saul: Another time I went to battle and even though God had said not to, I brought back some sheeep and cattle.
Samuel: Again Saul had disobeyed God. I told Saul that God hat rijicted him as the king. Saul went his way, I went my way, and I died without ever seeing him again.
